Asghar Farhadi’s ‘A Hero’ has been invited to the Toronto International Film Festival in Canada.

The Cannes award-winning movie is slated to represent Iran at the 2021 edition of the event.

Rahim, a calligrapher and artist, is jailed for a debt he could not pay back. Once he gets a home leave of two days, he pays a visit to his stuttering child and his speech therapy instructor, Farkhondeh.

Farkhondeh offers to Rahim to sell the gold coins she has found to pay off his debt and release from the prison.

He weighs up the situation and finds out that the gold coins are not enough so he plans to buy people’s sympathy by faking being a good guy.

Rahim now will act as a hero who is on the search to find the owner of the gold coins.

Fereshteh Sadr-Orafaei, Amir Jadidi, Mohsen Tanabandeh and Farhadi’s young daughter Sarina are among the cast members of the Cannes Grand Prix winning feature film.

Toronto International Film Festival is one of the largest publicly attended film festivals in the world, attracting over 480,000 people annually. Since its founding in 1976, TIFF has grown to become a year-round destination for film culture operating.

The 46th edition of the festival is slated for September 9-18, 2021.
